Is It Back To School Then?

I can draw.  That much I know for certain.  Am I the best?  No.  That much I know as well.  Are there things that I still need to learn; of course.  What I'm worried about is trying to find a job in the 'art' world that doesn't require so many years of experience.  Experience sounds like to me that I need to get back into school of which I don't have the time or money for, and then get some internship at an production company of some sorts.  So, the question is, how does one get such experience without having to run through hoops later on in life?  I'm not against working for what I want.  At the same time I would hope that artwork is a medium that would stand on it's own.  If I can render something better than Fred shouldn't I get the job even if Fred is fresh out of school, or, just off a job?

I'm just venting.  Frustrated.  I'll live.

Awesome drawings, Todd. I'm passing this along to my son, who writes scripts (he's only 18, but he's got a very unusual imagination). Check out my brother, Jim Morin:

Todd,

Your work looks amazing! Have you found what your looking for yet?

I'm doing Bus. Development for a friend of mine, 21 yr Game Design/Art professional. He's seen the ups and downs of the biz and now is creating a resource addressing very much what you described re: work, school, connections.

Maybe you'd want to contribute info, etc or join as well to get your career where YOU want it to be.

THx
